In August of 2000 I brought home another baby ferret. Blitzen was eight weeks old when I brought her home, and she was incredibly manic and tired us all out and terrorized everyone. She didn't know that ferrets can't fly. She was deaf, but she didn't know that, either, and it hasn't caused much trouble. She could understand some hand signals when she wanted. Sometimes she seemed to play too rough for Lizzie, but other times they got along. If she was awake she moved too fast to photograph well, but I have some pictures of her asleep.

After we lost Lizzie, Blitzen was an only ferret for a while. She slowed down, and we thought she was just bored and lonely. After all, she was only four. In November, 2004, she seemed to have trouble breathing and we took her to the vet. She bit the vet, was treated for a respiratory infection and seemed to get better. However, in January 2005 she started some really scary coughing. Back to th evet. More treatment for respiratory infection. After two weeks of antibiotics, Robitussin, Benadryl, and theophyllene, she wasn't any better and went back. This time the x-rays showed a 3cm tumor iside her chest. Remarkably, she had remained fairly active and only showed symptoms when she was laying down.

I'll let David describe the rest.

She is also terribly missed.
